contemporary abstract landscape artist working with natural earth pigments, minerals, historical pigments, handmade paper and binders made from natural ingredients

"a lifetime of country living has finally rubbed off and left its mark!"

artist statement

I am surrounded by nature and as part of my personality I have always been fascinated with it. Since childhood I have picked up rocks and stones that caught my eye. I never realised their significance until now.

Now I pick up rocks and stones, old slates and tiles and grind them to make pigment. I make my own paper from recycled materials and plant fibres. I make glues and binders from natural substances. The aim of my work is to be as natural and environmentally friendly as possible and have as much fun as possible creating it.

I have swapped my massive array of acrylic paints and inks for nature’s palette. It has made making art far more exciting and challenging and that is important to me.

My paintings will probably not make a difference to the earth or the environment but every little helps.

I will never hope to match what nature has created, but I always give thanks to mother earth for inspiring me. Long live the natural environment. May God, yours or mine, preserve it from destruction.
